I'm looking for Peter McLelland?? Help please??

Hiya,

I am trying to find some information out regarding my GG Grandad...Peter McLelland b1839 In Scotland.  He married Elizabeth Marshall b1855 in Pocklington, Humberside.  In the 1881 census, peter is listed as living at Gladstone St, Dewsbury, Yorkshire.  His occupation is listed as Contractor Sanitary Works.

According to the 1881 census Elizabeth was born 1855c a
bit younger than Peter.

Ive found a couple of possibles on 1861 1871 let me know if you want info.

Thanks for your reply...please could you let me have the info you found, I currently have no idea what part of Scotland Peter was born in, who is parents were or siblings etc...although I've only just discovered that Peter was my GG Grandad!

Thanks for that Isobel, I didn't have their marriage info...that also gives a clue as to when he moved from Scotland to Yorkshire!

Peter probably died between 1881 and 1891 as Elizabeth is remarried in 1891

There's a possible death record for Peter
1st quarter 1883 Dewsbury Vol 9b page 470. He's listed as age 44 which is about right.

Also, have you got a possible Peter as a lodger with Daniel Wilson in Dewsbury in 1871? He's listed as a 28 year old  Mason Lab from Scotland. Not quite the right age compared with 1881, but worth hanging onto!
