ChatterBox tips please
« on: Tuesday 13 March 07 16:25 GMT (UK) »
Out of curiosity I clicked on the chat link and found myself immediately in the chat room.  I was made very welcome but found it very overwhelming.  As a pure novice on these such pages I would welcome some tips as to how to use the site.  How do I keep up with all the postings without the page disappearing out of site before I have chance to answer them!  Where does the 'save' facility come in?
Any tips would be much appreciated.  :)

Hi BJC and welcome to rootschat,

When entering the chatroom you will find, as you already have, that everyone is very welcoming and I agree it can be daunting and abit full on at first. Introduce yourself and say that as you are new to the room you will be sitting in the corner watching how things develop. If you want to answer something just follow the original posters coloured thread and it starts to get abit easier. If you want some assistance in say look ups ask if some one can help (they are very helpful in the room). Depending on when you enter there can be as few as two or three in there to at least 20 and you will find that there is always someone coming in or leaving throughout your time in there. One thing that I would point out is that you will at some stage getted "booted out" of the room this happens to everyone if not once sometimes as many as four or five times over acouple of hours and if this happens just re-enter and you will find that those on the boards will give you wb's (welcome back's). My best bit of advise is just to take your time and it will eventually fall in to place for you.

Welcome BJC,

Think of the Chat room as the corner shop where you call in for some essentials...

Everyone is so very friendly and you can get quick replies to general questions, but be warned you may enjoy yourself and stay for the laughs...

Hi Betty
Thanks for that :)
That's precisely what I thought.  Didn't expect to get straight in there.  I panicked and had to ask my son what to do  ::)
Found some very friendly people in there.  I will definitely give it another go but on another day  :)
May 'see' you in there sometime.

Welcome to Rootschat BJC and Betty.  Please don't be afraid to pop into the chatroom.   You will find that you won't want to leave once you get the hang of it and you can't wait to come back.  Everyone is so helpful and we also have a lot of laughs in there too.  Good place, so hope to see you both soon.  Obviously time zones are a bit difficult but we all manage to catch up one way or another.

See you soon.

Hugs
