Census lookups please - RUSSELL / CARRUTHERS families

On this wonderously wet afternoon in a drought-stricken Australia..hello! 

I would appreciate help with finding the following families on censuses please:

1. James Carruthers and Mary McBain (McBean) (know they had a son John born circa 1870) and

2. William Russell and Elizabeth Stewart (know they had a daughter, Elizabeth born circa 1882/3)

I have just learnt of the names of the parents to John and Elizabeth who married in Gourock in April 1914. This information has been the first chink in a longstanding brickwall. I am hoping with some census checks and a little luck information might be found relating to these families.

The other place name that keeps cropping up is Kilmalcolm.

Fingers crossed they can be tracked.

Firstly on James Carruthers and Mary McBain. This looks like their marriage on IGI:

JAMES CARRUTHERS  Marriages: Spouse: MARY MCBAIN    
Marriage:  31 MAY 1867 Kelton, Kirkcudbright, Scotland

They looked to have move to Renfrew shortly after their marriage. These are the children showing for on IGI, including John:

1. ELIZABETH CARRUTHERS  Birth: 16 JUL 1869 Kirkcudbright, Kirkcudbright, Scotland
2. JOHN CARRUTHERS Birth: 02 MAR 1873 Kilmacolm, Renfrew, Scotland
3. GEORGE CARRUTHERS Birth: 12 APR 1871 Kilmacolm, Renfrew, Scotland

The 1871 Census entry for the family in Kilmalcolm is a mess in terms of transcription  I'll leave it as is, you will have to view the original for accuracy:

The family in 1891, all children b. in Kilmalcolm. John not showing in the household. Can't see him easily in the census index, not sure how he has been transcribed:

On William Russell and Elizabeth Stewart, nothing showing for their marriage on IGI, so likely the marriage may have taken place post 1875. On SP, one likely marriage for them:

1877   RUSSELL   WILLIAM and STEWART ELIZABETH   @ CAMLACHIE   GLASGOW CITY/LANARK   Refs: 644/02 0128

A number of entries on the 1891 Census but hard to say which is the right family for Elizabeth. Do you have an occupation for William Russell from Elizabeth's MC?

Wonderful...absolutely wonderful. Thank you so very much.  They're found!!!!!

I don't have a copy of the certificate but was given this information by a correspondent. However, for occupation she has written iron(?), not clear to read the rest.

Mary Carruthers (nee McBain) is my great-great grandmother's sister. I have other information on the McBain family if you are interested.
