Anyone know where the Morton's came to Coldstream from?
« on: Saturday 27 November 04 22:48 GMT (UK) »
can anyone help me trace where my Great-great-great grandfather was born.
His name was Andrew Morton and he died in Coldstream 6 Dec 1881. The census of that year just lists his birthplace as "England".
His father, George Morton, also died in Coldstream 5 March 1856, so it looks like the family moved to Coldstream sometime after Andrew's birth around 1808.
Thanks...

Hiya,

You will get both these death records at http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

It is a pay per view site but you will get the parents names including mother's maiden names.  This should then help you track down where in England Andrew and George were born - as long as whomever registered the death knew.

Hope this helps,
Pam
