suicide ???

Hello would  any one please be able to point me in the direction of  coroners reports or such ,   for a lady who suicided in 1890.....i am assuming there would be such a report ..althought the info i have is suicide :  death by hanging!!  In Swan Hill,  Victoria.

Any ideas ??

no  Prue i havnt....got info from rellie,  although he did send me a write up in the newspaper about it also......

I had a suicide of a similar time period in NSW and the death certificate stated
death by hanging, suicide, finding at enquiry held at  ...   on  ....  (it was the day after the death) by .... (he was a J.P. )  I haven't gone looking for any further information as it related to a rather sad family story & I doubt the inquiry would have yielded any more detail.

I assume Victoria certifcates are similar & this should give you the date to search for the inquest (presumably at the archives).

Sometime ago "Mr Magoo" gave me an inquest number, I assume from a CD index, for a relative who had committed suicide in Victoria in 1910.  Perhaps a pm to him.

Hi Craizi,

The Public Records Office of Victoria (PROV) in North Melbourne would hold the records.
I have the Inquest Index which would give some details including the reference no. You can pm me if you would like me to look it up. I know there are a couple of Rootschat members who go to the PROV regularly to look things up for people.
