Cleopatra Loise Marchant in 1901 Census

My paternal Grandmother:

Cleopatra Louise Marchant
born 17th Sept 1893 at 7 Bishops St. Grange, Cardiff

Her Certificate of Registry of a birth and her birth certificate both give her name as "Clia Louise"
Her Marriage certificate gives her name as "Cleopatra Louise"
Her certificate of registration as a citizen of Rhodesia gives her name as "Clia Louise"
The birth certificates of all 3 of her children name her as "Cleopatra Louise"
Her Zimbabweian death certificate names her "Clea Louise"

In the family she was mostly known as Aunty Loui to the generation before mine (to my generation she was Granny Dinneen)

I have checked the 1901 census under every spelling I can think of. I have tried with girls aged 7 (+-5years) born in Cardiff. I have tried every which way, and I cannot find her in the 1901 census.
It is highly unlikely that she was abroad on census day 1901, but I cannot find her.

Has anyone any ideas if I am missing something obvious here in my search of the 1901 census for Clia/Cleopatra?

Hi,
I had a try searching for her on the 1901 census gov site for you , and like you  I can't get anything either. I tried searching by first name only, cleo, Cleopatra, clia, Clea.  Where born I put glamorgan, glamorganshire.

 You've probably done this too, and thought of looking at the occupants of the house address where she was born.  I tried an address search on the 1901 census, but nothing is coming up for Bishop ( or Bishops)   cardiff, so that street  may not be  still there today

I tried merchant as well, but nothing seems to be matching up. I couldn't search on just the name Marchant , and no Christian name , and no place of birth, as there were too many results error

Do you know if Cleopatra had any sisters or brothers? you could try searching for them ( or by her parents names) in 1901 .   If  she has ,what are they names and ages ? what are her parents names according to her birth cert?

 Have you found her  parents , or any older siblings ( if you know of   any of her siblings and they are older than cleo/clia) in  the 1891 census?

Maybe finding  her parents , or if you know of  any  older siblings first of all in  the 1891 census  ( before Cleopatra was born ) may help you  to find  them in 1901, if you haven't found them already that is in 1891. I'm probably just suggesting all the things that you have may have done  to try and find her.

I found her parents and brothers and sisters at home in 1901 census, but Cleopatra was not at home with the family.

I will have a look at that site thanks. I know her dad's name and as I say above, I found the family in the 1901 census. Problem with 1891 is Cleopatra was not born then.

I am quite new to genealogy, so I hope not to mislead you.  I have found with my own family on a few occassions a young child to be with their grandparents.  If you are aware of the both sets of grandparents you could try to locate these, she may be with them on census night.
