« on: Tuesday 27 March 07 13:12 BST (UK) »
Hello, I am looking for Lavinia (Levina) Alldridge c1834 Maidstone. I am hoping to see if her husband is listed (I am really hoping he is called William) as in 1871 she is down as widowed, in 1871 she is living at 28 Wharf Lane, Maidstone with son's William Joshua 1857, Henry G 1863 and John E 1866.

Any help appreciated

Cant see her from an initial look, even using various spellings for the christian name.

There is a marriage on FreeBMD William ALLDRIDGE to Lavinia HILLS Sep qtr 1853 N.Aylesford, which could be them.

Hi,
Not had any luck finding Lavinia but this could be William.
Ref RG9 500 folio 11 Vessel 'Union' (vessels were enumerated after the entries for Wharf Lane)
William Alldridge married age 34 barge master born Maidstone
John Alldridge not married age 29 barge mate born Maidstone

Vessel 'Union'
Port to which she belongs : Rochester
Tonnage 30
Description: Barge - coasting trade
Name of master - Wm Alldridge

Also found:
RG09 500 folio 7 page 7: 13 Wharf Lane, Maidstone
Susan Alldridge head wid age 63 washerwoman born Maidstone

and from FreeBMD
death William Alldridge age 44, Dec qtr 1870, district Thanet, ref 2a 476

The age of this death ties in with the William who is master of the vessel 'Union'.

In case it is relevant, here are the details from the marriage ref. noted by Ian ...............

1 Aug 1853 Frindsbury, Kent

William ALLDRIDGE (of full age) bachelor bargeman of Frindsbury son of Joshua ALLDRIDGE bargeman

Lavinia HILLS (of full age) spinster of Frindsbury dau of John HILLS bargeman

Witnesses:  Sarah Keziah ALLDRIDGE & James WALTER

This could well tie in with the William ALLDRIDGE found by Carol in 1861 and perhaps William's father being Josh could be significant in that William & Lavinia's eldest known son was named William Joshua.
