Emma Maria HIGHWOOD wife b. 1853 New Romney KEN

I have found the following on the 1891 census

William aged 43 Head born Brookland Kent (coachman Groom)
Emma aged 38 wife born new romney
Percy son aged 5 new romney
Burland Son aged 5 months new romney
Harriet Evans aged 19 Border

Address 5 High Street

I double checked on the name Burland and it was right.

he was called Burland Humphrey Highwood

On the 1881 census Harriet Evans is listed as the niece

Burland Humphrey was probably named after his mothers surname

William highwood married Emma Maria humphrey Sept quatre of 1873 in romney Marsh Kent

Burland Humphrey was born dec quatre 1890

I have found Emma humphrey on the other census if you need them and also william on 1861 and 1871 census

Hi Fizzy- Thanks for all your help. I saw Burland on FreeBMD, and wondered whether he might be part of the tribe ! Actually I think all Highwood's listed under Romney Marsh are related in some way or another.

Hi Sue - Thanks for pitching in as well. The Highwood/Humphery inter-marrying connection extends thru a couple of generations, which can be really helpful to indentify the 'right' family. Especially when they use it as a middle name. And yes, I would love to have the other census information as well.

Pink Elephants and Fizzy Bubbles...sounds like a theme to me..
