Marriage in Scotland
« on: Friday 30 March 07 22:25 BST (UK) »
Please can anyone help me, I am looking for a marriage between William Russel and Harriet Muirhead, I do not know where in Scotland only that it was between 1905 and 1920, he was born in orkney and she was Irish, I believe at the time of the marriage he was a serving soldier in the Highland Regiment.
Any help would be really appreciated, Kindest Regards Bethan

Dear Monica, thank you so much for your help you are a gem. One last question, do Scottish marriage certificates show the names of the parents and occupations. As if they don't it will be a waste of money to sucribe to this site just for this one couple, as I am only doing a favour for a cousin.
Thank you again, best wishes Bethan

Hi Bethan

Scottish certificates are some of the best in the world  ;) For marriages, they will include:

- Name, age, marital status, occupation, last address of bride and groom
- Names of parents, including maiden names of mothers, occupations and whether parents were deceased at the time of marriage.
- Names of witnesses

Have a look at this link here on RootsChat from Pam which explains in more detail:
