Hello

I cannot read the occupations of 2 sisters on the 1901 census for St Pancras. The eldest is 20 and the youngest is 17 and both are recorded as 'Employers' and living with their parents.

Can anyone decipher what they are? The second looks like something 'Pincer' but know idea what!

Any help is much appreciated

It looks to me like
Dressmaker
and something Piercer

Yes, I agree, it's dressmaker and silver piercer something. I cannot read the last word! Acceber, if you looked on one of those websites that have old occupations (even on the Occupations board here on RC) you might find some enlightenment about silver piercer (?)

Wish they hadn't put those big black crosses through everything on the censuses!

I think the first one is dressmaker but have no idea about the piercer occupation! Thanks for the suggestion Marie, I will have a look at some of those occupation websites and try and narrow it down. No idea what a silver piercer would do anyway $:-\$ and also what that last word says!

The last word looks like Gold which would fit the occupation of Silver piercer.

If you look at the fancy silver of the day a lot of it had pierced decoration, someone had to put the holes in it!

I doubt the Silversmith himself did every single piece.
