lookup please/William Stirling

Looking for William Stirling b 1877 Scotland. Have little information other than he emigrated to USA 1897 and married Elizabeth de Woolfson in america in about 1917.

Go to the pay-per-view site ScotlandsPeople at:
http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/
and search for the birth of William STIRLING around the right year.

However, unless you have a little more information, you might find that you are unable to pick the right William STIRLING.

You will also be able to look on SP on the 1881 and 1891 censuses.

In 1881 Scotland Census there are 16 William Stirlings born about the required time. Add another year either side and there are 25. That doesn't count for transcription errors and abbreviations used e.g. Wm or Bill. As JAP mentioned, you will need some extra information to find the correct Person - parents, siblings, location?
