George Glyngynwedd Mill Cwmbelan census look up please!!
« on: Tuesday 30 November 04 14:28 GMT (UK) »
Can someone please look up the George family who had a business at Glyngynwedd Mill which is is in Cwmbelan, Llangurig nr Llanidloes.  I am looking to find out who lived at this residence in 1841 and 1851.  The Georges then were at Pontdolgoch Mill in 1875 - any information would be gratefully received.

Thanx

Janet

I have an interest in the JERMAN name of Llanidloes, and while looking at The Jerman Project website I came across this page which mentions your Glyn Gynwedd Mill, Cwmbelan.  I knew I had seen the name mentioned on here somewhere, so did I search and found your post.

It's an excellent site, and thought you just might find what you need!!!!!!

I also came across this in the site's old guestbook!

My great great great grandfather was Edward George, married to Elizabeth George of Glyngynwydd Mill, Cwm Belan, and my great great grandfather was also Edward George who moved to Pontdolgoch Mill (a flour mill) near Caersws, circa 1860 (I think), with his wife Jane Ingram. Pontdolgoch Mill ceased working in the early 1960’s but our family business is still going strong after 128 years under the family name of E. George & Son. I have photos etc. on George/Ingram families and would be happy to help if needs be"
