I found this entry: 11a 197 with the 197 crossed through and at the side is written 0063/5. Does anyone know what that means, please???

Can you look at the scan of the original image to see what that says? Can't say i've seen anything like that before.
Perhaps if you give us the full reference, name, district and quarter we can have a look...

I have seen something like this before, for a birth where the child was originally registered in the mothers maiden name, and then subsequently re-registered when she married.
I think it means the entry has been amended.?

The Mum had been married for quite some time before the child was born.

My cousin is a registrar, what I can tell you is, if a mistake was made on the acutal certificate they always put a number bedside it which indicates the number of alterations in that particular registration book.
