The ages of Angus and Ann when they died (i.e. giving their approximate birth years), and both locations, would be helpful.

Hi Sitheil,
Thanks for replying to my post. Angus was born apprx 1855. He was 67 when he died. His mother Ann was 46 when she died so would be apprx 1827 when she was born. Her parents were Neil Mackinnon and Mary Mclean. I also have Mclennans and Macdonalds in the primary lines of both grandparents aswell as Mackinnons on Angus's wifes side. Hope you can find something. Many thanks.
Kind Regards
Catherine

Hi Catherine

IGI has a marriage for John Morrison and Anne McKinnon 03/02/1857 in Harris.

IGI has an Angus Morrison born 04/08/1862 to John Morrison and Anne McKinnon on the Isle of Harris.

Other children born to them are Alexander (03/02/1857), Unknown female (16/10/1858), Marion (08/04/1859), Margaret (17/04/1860), John (28/06/1863), Murdo, (08/03/1865), and Murdoch (28/01/1867).

However, in the 1861 census, there is a John (born Harris c1831), Fisherman, living at Ardree, Isle of Harris. His wife Anne was born on Harris c 1832. With them are Angus (b c1857), Alexander (b c1858), and Margaret (b c1858),

In the 1871 census, this family is living at Ardvie, Isle of Harris. John (born Harris c1831) is a Fisherman. Anne was born on Harris c 1833. With them are Angus (b c1855), Alexander (b c1857), Margaret (b c1859), John (b c1859), and Murdo (b c1867)

I can not explain the discrepancies (IGI can be unreliable ), but it is the only information that I have been able to find. You might also want to contact Bill Lawson, The Old Schoolhouse, Taobh Tuath (Northton), Isle of Harris, HS3 3JA, Scotland.  Telephone: 01859 520 488 / Fax: 01859 520 488  E-mail: *

Bill Lawson has been specialising in the Family and Social History in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland for over 40 years

We have a Morrison connection in the family and found Bill's materials to be very helpful.

Hi Sitheil.
Thank you so much for being so prompt and spending all that time on my behalf. The information you found , I have already found. The 1871 Census seems to be the only entry matching mine. The ages I find too are always all over the place. They were definatley from Ardvee. Would you know where Lecalee is? Anne died 1873 at 46 and place of death is listed as Lecalee. I have never come across it so far. I know of Bill Lawson too, but wanted to find out all I could myself.
looking forward to hearing from you
Cheers
