BATES - Army record?
« on: Friday 20 April 07 15:59 BST (UK) »
After a roaring success a few minutes ago I am going to try this one too :)

I've got a newspaper article that reads -

17 July 1942 - BATES

There are 4 brothers in the Bates famioly and they are all serving in the Forces.  Their father Mr George W Bates of Ashton-Under-Lyne, Lancashire was badly gassed in Flanders in the last war and came home a physical wreck.  Out at present are Alfred (34) and Erin (25) already in the Army and the younger boys George (23) and Jack (20) volunteered for service.

Is it possible to get George William BATES' (bn 1883) war record or anything more on his service without knowing his number?

Thank you

~ Claire
