Birth look up please

Would it be possible for someone to look up the birth of Clara Cross who was possibly born in New Zealand (Canterbury or Wellington) on 4 September 1907.  Parents were Richard Thomas and Maria Cross.

If this is not possible, can anyone guide me on how I would need to obtain a search on this person?

I don't think it was Ivy Clara Cross.  Just Clara as far as I know.  Yes I'm looking to see if she was really born in New Zealand and not the UK as she never had a birth certificate in the UK and had to sign an affidavid.  I've just found out that her parents sailed over to NZ in 1905 and thought she may have been born in NZ not UK.

Only Clara, 2 years each side and she was born in or near Wellington.

If you look thru the posts you will see a whole lot of people had different names than was first thought.  Mainly a first name that THEY didn't like or a difficult to say name.

If this person is important to your tree, i would take the punt and get the birth cert.

OR if you have information on when they moved back to England, we could maybe eliminate IVY CLARA by showing her to be here still or by same process show her to be the same one.  But for £8 its an easy shot.

Hi Michelle... sorry I cannot help you but just like to say that I had a person in my tree (still living) who I and everyone else knew as one name but found out she used her second name all her life as she didnt like the first one!!!  When I asked her about it - she laughed and said ' I wondered how long it would take you'!!!!  .. Might be worth a shot as Zephyr suggested !!

also the number indicates a July-Sept quarter rego.

I could send off for the certificate.  How do I do it from Australia?

It is likely that they used a middle name as they did exactly that for her brother (my grandfather). 

Also are there any ships lists for emigrants returning to the UK?
