Cork City location?
« on: Monday 08 March 04 21:32 GMT (UK) »
Someone said that the "Linehan" spelling would be found in Cork City on the north side of the river.
I don't see Cork City under "parishes".  Can anyone tell me where this might be?
Thanks, Joan

From what I understand the Roman Catholic parish for Cork City is St Mary's.

You could try the Cork City Councils website for maps of the area
http://www.corkcorp.ie/maps.html

or the Cork ancestors website and try a search of their database

May have geneology information on Francis Linehan.  Can you provide information on Constance Wilbur and children?

Hi most of the northside would be under two civil parishes St Mary and St Anne.  The St Mary's Area is mainly around Blarney St and the St Annes area is much larger and extends out into Blackpool and cover most of the North Cathedral Catholic parish.

I have a Thomas Linahen who married Kathleen Mulcahy c1930, they ran a shop at York/Thomas Davis St. Any link there?

Thanks Matt for the info.  I don't know of a connection, but I don't have much on my Linehan's yet.
