Can any of you kind folk suggest a way I can trace the birth and origins of my great-great-great-grandfather Hugh FOX. Apparently he was b in Co Down, about 1761? He was m in Yorkshire during 1784. The 1841 census gives his age as 80yrs (give or take) and apparently he had been a humble aglab.  Unsurprisingly, I have not been able to find him or his wife on the 1851.

I'd be grateful for any pointers.

Colin

Jim

Thank-you for that link, which I will have a look at.

I'm sorry about the delay in responding, due to taking a few days in Yorkshire trying to trace another branch of the family.

Good luck

Colin
