PLEASE HELP ,
I am haing probs with a family from wemyss fife ,
john laurie/lowrie b 1790c

and alison flockart b 1790c both wemyss ,

i think the date of marraige may have been 28/08/1807
but i am not sure ,

any help would be gratefully appreciated .

What sort of info are you looking for?

There is a marriage/banns entry showing on the Old Parish Registers (OPRs), from IGI for the date you have:

JOHN LOURIE  Marriages: Spouse: ALISON FLOCKART

These look to be some of their children, actual extracts from OPRs also showing on IGI:

Have you got the family's 1841 Census entry, ages rounded down to the nearest 5yrs for everyone over 15:

Hi monica , thanks for the info love ,

i am having lots of problems trying to link what i have already researched on james lowrie b 1811/12 in scotland to john lowrie and alison flackart .

i did look thru the IGI in ancestry and the nearest to the dates james was born did come up with that john as his father . i have the 1841 census for james in liverpool but he was married at this time to agnes green also born scotland .
there marraige cert says john lowrie father b scotland but that is all .
Can you advise what i could do apart from sending for james birth cert.Would that certificate have the parents names and where born and things like that on ?, i have been told not all do .

anyway enough of my rambling .

Hi Sue

You are in the period of pre official registration in Scotland which started in 1855. The records included on Scotlands People and IGI were from the Old Parish Registers for the Establish Church of Scotland (Presbyterian). It's very variable what you will find on these entries, it may be no more than showing on the extract on IGI for example. The images from the OPRs have recently become available to view on Scotlands People.

You may get some additional clues from the names of James and Agnes's children if the followed Scottish naming pattern (first child called after paternal grandfather.....etc).

Was there an occupation showing for James's father John on his marriage entry (was this in Scotland or England?).

PS Did your James actually show a Fife birth place in any of the English Censuses?

Hi again monica ,

james lowrie b1811/12 scotland
married agnes green b1812/13 scotland
at st thomas liverpool on the 29-12-1839
james dad was john lowrie
agnes dad was john green
thats all i have on them
so i searched for a john lowrie in scotland with son james and age dates i have and the closest i came to was john and alison from wemyss ,
james and agnes had children ;
agnes
george
isabella
and james .
i have lots of info for decendents of this family to the present day so i know everything up to john lowrie b scotland and alison flockart is correct .
just dont know where to go from here .
