Hi Paula Thank you for deciphering the writing on the post card, It looks like the word rhod**** is probably a made up name taken from his surname Rhodes ::)

Hi Sallysmum and Fred I love your pics, yes it does seem bikes were all the rage back then. Heres one of my grandmother in a sidecar.

Nor had I heard of Arrol Johnston! I think it was a scottish based firm - now long gone!


Have added a photo of my Grandma Sutton - died before I was born, photo probably 1930's/1940's - I know nothing about the car!

This one is slightly more modern but it makes me smile- it shows Great Uncle's car parked outside the Air Ministry in Kingsway with a new German "thing" strapped in the boot. The chap in the top-hat is giving it a really snooty look. Uncle H. took it in April 1942.
