Hello all,

I have a 'Samuel Thomas Folkard'
b1858 colchester Married 1883 in Lexden to a 'Matilda Ward' they had 7 children that i know of, Percy, HETTIE, Edith, Alice, George, Ellen and William (william was killed in ww1)  Samuel was Illegitimet, his mothers name was 'Louisa Folkard' she was living with her mother Elizabeth at the time of his birth on Hythe Street, Colchester (in the parish of st leonards).
This is all i have on the family, i'm hoping somebody may be able to help me find out a little more! I'm not sure where to go from here ???  Would be helpful to Know Elizabeths husbands name or if Louisa had any siblings.

1881 shows a number of Louisa Folkard 's
only one said as being born in colchester, age 22 in a large household as a domestic.
it was the Turner's household....have you got that information already?

looks like you need an 1861/ 1871 check.

not wishing to confuse matters, but the area to look may be Langham, as there are quite a few in that area..which would be the LEXDEN index/census

incidently, a big step forward to 1891 shows samuel and wife matilda living at colchester RG/12 1410 folio 75 page 10

fyi, matilda is shown as being born west bergholt.
they have a stepdaughter with them,one ALICE WARD age 11  b. west Bergholt
george son,age 7,
ellen dau age 3 and william,son age 1
