Can anyone help ?
« on: Wednesday 02 May 07 07:55 BST (UK) »
Don't know how I found this site but having a quick look you all seem a lovely lot,I'm quite new to all this but so far have done quite well (I think anyway) and have managed to go back 3,4 somtimes 5 generations but I seem a bit stuck on one of my gg grandmothers, her name was Mary Jane Fearon she married James Irving in 1887 in Bridekirk Cumberland.I have a copy of the marriage cert.and it names her father as Henry.I seem a bit stuck from here I found a Mary J Fearon on the 1881 census but I'm not sure if this is her I have 2 birth cert one for a Mary one for a Mary Jane both of them give Henry as father.Where could I try from here ? ??? Sorry if I've gone a bit much

Hi
What were the other details on the marriage certificate?  Occupations, witnesses, address etc.  They will all hold clues.   How old was she at marriage?  Have you found her with her husband on the 1891 and 1901 census?
Let us know as much as you can and I am sure someone will be able to help.
Andrea
Should have said "Welcome" too!

Hello all I'm in shock to get so many replies so quick. On the marriage cert  Mary Janes dad was listed as a sailor and one of the witness's was her husbands brother Hodson. It gives her age as'FULL' whatever that means.
On the census front I  have her on the 1891 one & 1901 her children were twins George fearon &William  and another son Joseph (1901)
on the 1891 one there is a Maggie b1877as well as Joseph this is where I get a bit lost on the 1881 census mary jane fearon is the head and has a daughter Margaret b1877 just a coinciedence ( cant spell but you get the drift)
James & Mary Jane got married on Christmas day ,was this a regular thing?
Thank you again for repling so quick,Susan

OK, so we've got the twins.  Now, can you remember where they were in 1901?  I'm struggling to find them as a family.
