Can anyone help please, trying to trace Gladys Ada grace Walters, I believe her mother lived in Poulton on Flyde, she adopted Gladys daughter Peggy , unfortunately Peggy was run over by a tram /bus on Poulton road east just outside her grandmothers house . I am sure this will have been reported in the local press can anyone advise me which newspaper its likely to  have been be in, and how I can obtain a copy ?
Thank You Liz ???

You might wish to note for future searching purposes the town's name is actually Poulton-Le-Fylde. Many people get the Fylde bit incorrect, easy mistake but it doesn't help when you're looking for info.

Good luck with your research hope the Gazette are able to help you out!

Another avenue would be the Poulton History Soc, (for the want of a better title)

www.poulton-le-fylde-hcs.co.uk/

Their site is really informative and has contact details for those "in the know".

Poulton Road east sounds very much like Garstang Road East which is the local name for the now main "A" road splitting the village from the residential areas of the town today.  It would more than likely have been a bus not a tram in the incident you describe.

For your info, the Gazette runs a "down memory lane" section twice a week in print in the local paper which is distributed Monday - Saturday inclusive.  Letters are published daily with the Memory Lane feature usu on a Wednesday and always Saturday.

Their archives are held with themselves and at the local library in Blackpool.  In the time frame you are seeking it could well have been titled "Blackpool Evening Gazette and Herald"
