1841 Look Up Please
« on: Wednesday 09 May 07 23:20 BST (UK) »
Hi Guys

I need a bit of a favour.  I'm currently researching the surname Dominey/Dominy/Domeney in the area of Kent and have come unstuck around about 1801.  Please could someone please tell me if there are any of the above surnames in the Kent area (mainly Gravesend)

Thank you

Paul

There's a Robert Dominey b.1821 in Seal, Kent but couldn't see any in Gravesend - who are you looking for?

Hi there is quite a large family from about 1769 till 1801 in Gravesend.  I'm trying to find a John Spencer Dominy/Dominey etc etc.

He went to South Africa between 1853 - 1860.  He had a son apparently born in London about 1853 called Henry Edward Dominey.

I have asked other researchers on this board to look but they came up with nothing.

It was just by chance I found a John Spencer Dominy born 1769 in Gravesend.  It was to much of a coincidence that he was also called Spencer so I have been looking into the 1769 John Spencer Dominy family but have got stuck at 1801.

Hi Paul,

Have you looked at the City Ark site? Some Gravesend Parish Records are online. May be a bit of a trawl :-\

Good Luck,

hi Bearkat

Thanks for all the information.  The will at the National archives is for Robert from Seal.  This could be worth a try.  I don't suppose you have the 1841 census result for him?  Just to see if there are any family still with them.

Frances I have looked at that site and it's very good.  I found a few Domineys that might be of some use in the future.

Cheers Guys

Paul
