Hi Elaine,
I would like to join in with the 'thank you's for the offer.
Mine's a question first, though I expect one of the fellas will be able to answer it too.  :)
What do you know of the pubs down the Burton Road? My mum's cousin and her hubby used to have one of the pubs in the 1950s/1960s. It's currently one of those 'I'll know it when you say the name' things lurking in the back of my brain cell.

Ploughboy http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/91/9151/Plough_Boy/Lincoln ... I think this is very close to the Museum of Lincs Life (Old Barracks).

Just off Burton Rd, on Rasen Lane, is the Lord Tennyson.  It used to be the Royal George I think.

I'm thinking there was one further out of town - perhaps Waggon and Horses.  From what I remember from 40 years ago, it was the only pub in Lincoln owned by Melbourn's Stamford Brewery.  Yes, here it is - http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/19/19025/Waggon_and_Horses/Lincoln

I see you know your pub's GeoffE.  ;)   Eilleen.

Some time in 1964, a few of us decided to "cross off" each pub from our list, so every Friday night we'd meet in the Albion by the bus stop (now the Barbican?) and cross off another couple or three.  Some were noted "rough houses" (or so we thought!), so we would just have a swift half then scarper.  We used to play a lot of darts in those days.

My last pub to be crossed off was either the Portland Arms on Portland St, or the one on Monson St next to the bridge over the Sincil Drain (probably not there any more).  That was 17 days after my 18th birthday ;)
