Hi
Always difficult with people in the 1900s - especially if some of those you mention might be still alive.
I think if it was me I would write to the local register office for the births you found (not Southport) and ask each one if the child registered has parents David and Emily.  They will not charge for this.
Once you know where he was born and get the certificate you will have Emily's maiden name and you have a chance of finding his parents in the 1901 census.
I assume you have been search the full BMD index (free on www.ancestry.co.uk) and not just FreeBMD?
Electoral rolls might help too.   Lewes Record office will have those.

George TESTER and Sarah ?. Married Dec 1860, he is in FreeBMD but not her.

FreeBMD claims over 99% coverage for marriages in December 1860.

George's entry has been mistranscribed as Cuckfield when the image clearly reads Uckfield.  But that shouldn't matter too much since they've got his volume and page number right.

Of all the marriages registered at Uckfield in December 1860 there are only two entries for women named Sarah, viz.
Holman   Sarah      Uckfield   2b   161
Thorpe   Sarah Ann   Uckfield   2b   139

Both have correctly transcribed volume and page numbers which don't match those of George (2b 137).  However, it's possible (since they are similar numbers) that page 137 should be 139 or vice versa, due to one perhaps being incorrectly entered at the time the index was made (not the fault of FreeBMD).  So if I had to make a guess just from the index, I'd say Sarah Ann Thorpe was the spouse of George.  But I'd not be very confident about this guess.

Against this it should be noted that neither woman is on a page that's missing a male partner.

Of course, for certainty all that's necessary is to obtain the certificate.

Deeds of 6 St Nicholas Lane, Lewes
[from Scope and Content] Mrs Pollard had left 6 St Nicholas Lane to the occupier, her brother Harry Jordan, and her executrix executed an assent on 29 September 1939. He died on 31 August 1941 and his will of 30 March 1938, leaving his estate to his wife Mary Ann Jordan, was proved on 8 October 1941 by his executrix Catherine Florence Parrish, who assented to the bequest to Mrs Jordan, the occupier, on 20 November 1941. Mrs Jordan died on 24 December 1950 and her will of 4 November 1941 was proved on 8 February 1951. The beneficiary and executrix, her sister Emily Louisa Taylor of 73 Highdown Road, Lewes, wife of David William Taylor, sold the house for £550 to Florence Dorothy Ryan of Beaumont, Dittons Road, Eastbourne, wife of Harold Ryan, on 19 February 1951 (26-29)

Cheers for all your help
