How do you verify OPRs?

Dear All
I'm back in the 1700s for one of my family branches and am having trouble proving relationships. Marriage records do not always have parents' names and because of the habit of using the same first names within extended families it is not always clear what the relationships are.
How do other people verify the OPRs?
Thank you
Ruby

Hi Ruby
I'm sure others will have many more ideas than me - but I'll start with a couple of suggestions
Wills - if they exist can be very useful
MIs - sometimes include names for spouse and children - there can also be multiple family members in the one grave which can help
Witnesses on marriage records
You may also find some suggestions here

Hi Trish
Many thanks for the suggestions, never thought of MIs so I guess that is a good place to start. Don't think any of mine ever wrote wills, apart from the branch in the Isle of Man - seems everybody did it there.
Thanks again.
Regards
Ruby
