Question re delivery of certificates from SOUTHPORT
« on: Wednesday 18 April 07 02:12 BST (UK) »
I sent for two certificates on 1st April - despatch date 10th April.
They arrived today 18th April - a little later than usual - but I had put that down to Easter being in there somewhere.
The white envelopes usually arrive from Merseyside with the date stamp, postage paid stamp and the'  if undelivered return to Southport ' stamp in red in the right hand corner and there is  usually a blue Air-Mail sticker.
Today they were in the usual white envelope but with none of the above.

There was a black ink stamp on each as follows:-

Prioritaiare/Priority                                Port Paye
En cas de non distribution:                   Aut No 98/10
La Poste - Gonesse Tim                          FRANCE
95 GONESSE                                         LA POSTE

and that was all.

Can sometone enlighten me please and has this happened to them with their certificates ?

Thank you.

Hi Emmeline

I haven't had ordered any for over a month, but it sounds like they have "out-sourced" their despatch.....

When I was living in the UK I used to order a product from an American company based in the Channel Islands, but it was always sent from Holland.

Bren.

Thanks for that Bren. I shall have to get used to these modern ways - out-sourcing etc  ::)

I always liked seeing Southport/Merseyside on the envelopes but perhaps I won't anymore and will have to get used to them arriving from elsewhere.

Cheers........

I had trouble with my last batch of certs from the GRO. 3 arrived OK but the 4th one arrived 19 days later. Now, I'm waiting for one that had April 11 as despatch date. Usually, they take just a couple of days to arrive, even this far away.

You are quite right ozlady - although we are all in the Antipodes the certificates have always arrived quite soon after ordering - even before the despatch date given. Don't think I have ever had to wait 19 days though for one to arrive. ::) ::)

Hope the one you are expecting arrives in next few days - it's probably coming from Merseyside via France. ....

I've had problems just getting certificates in the UK!

I ordered some at the end of March; estimated despatch date of 5th April.   They arrived yesterday, 17th April, but the dates on the certs show they were produced on 2nd April.......so where did they go inbetween?  I've emailed GRO about this but I'm still waiting for an answer.

The UK's mail market was fully liberalised – that is, opened up for competition - on 1 January 2006. This means Royal Mail no longer enjoys the statutory monopoly it held for 350 years. New operators licensed by Postcomm can now collect and deliver any mail, from any customer.
