That's really funny Aulus 'cos I thought the same...it looks like she had a choice of two hats to wear and couldn't make her mind up...so she wore both ;D ;D ;D
T.T.

That made me smile

But did no one tell the groom that one NEVER wears white socks with a suit!

But nothing beats the brides swimming hat!

Havent fashions changed! I guess people will look at my wedding photo in years to come and have a jolly good laugh! (They probably do already as it is 23 years old, and very different to todays fashions! Recent brides seem to go for strapless dresses, so when you just have a head and shoulders picture in the paper it looks like they arent wearing a dress at all! Anyone else noticed that?)

Yes - wow when you look close you can tell that those on the left (as we look at it) are the grooms family. That hairline! Chap at end of back row has it too.
(NO wonder the women in the family wore those hats)

I think OR has it spot on ..  the shorter hairstyles of the younger Modern women  and the close formed small cloche  hats were prevalent for that period ...  I must admit the  groom's hair looks a bit wild  but it was an era of rebelliousness  for Women especially after getting the vote . I think the floral style of bouquets is also for that period . I know it's a black and white pic but the flowers look the same tone as the brides .. and often were all white during this period. O f course I could be wrong !!  ;)

You're definitely onto something there, I think.

Does anyone know the late '20s etiquette for who was placed where on a wedding photo?

on Ancestry's PArtail FreeBMD database I keyed in Collis, 1930 + or - 10 years, and London as the County
It came up with a good choice of possibilities!

All those of females can be disregarded, I guess.

Any of the others ring any bells with you Aulus?

Yes, there's one with a name that would be the same as the groom's father (if we're on the right family) - married 1932.  Hmmm ...  ???  I think there's £7 on the way to the ONS coffers, to find out.
