Jeffrey

Where did your Poole's originate?  Are all the names you mentioned in US?
I have just confirmed that my Poole's started in Wales, then moved to Shrewsbury in Shropshire.  Jeffrey and his wife Anne had their children in Sussex, but after Jeffrey died in 1854 they returned to Shrewsbury.
The names you mentioned don't mean anything to me, but one never knows.

Where did your Poole's originate?  That's what I am trying to find out. I believe we were probably escaping the noose and fled from Poole England and just took the name of the port, but as you say, one never knows! ;-)  Are all the names you mentioned in US? Yes, all of the names mentioned are in the US unless I discover otherwise in my research.

Thanks!

Hi
My Poole's as I have traced them go back to the early 1700s in Montgomery Wales.  Some moved to Shropshire.  Sorry but I do not have a webpage, but would like too.
I have only found a descendant from one of my Poole's going to US and that was within the last two generations.
I am still working on the Welsh side as the English ones are much easier to trace.

Sorry but no William Poole born Ludlow.  My William Poole was born in Brighton, Sussex.
I have been on GenesReunited for some years now and have made numerous contacts but none that have help as much as this site.  Particularly in Wales research.

I see this is an old thread, but with lots of interest, including from Australia.  We have quite a few of the Poole family on our web-tree at

    http://www.family-trees.com.au/      (then click on Poole).

They are concentrated around the Goulburn Valley region near Shepparton.

We believe Joseph Poole married Alice Burt in 1858, and that Alice was from Essex.

Genealogy information on Joseph and Alice would be appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation
