Hi Caroline

Perhaps like you, I seem to find William earlier & later - Is he the 3 year old in 1841 with parents John and Ann? If so I may see father John as a widower / boarder in 1851, but no sign of his family. I will keep looking

Looking at the 1851 information - there are some areas of Dorset missing in 1851 viz
The following parishes and hamlets are missing from these piece numbers
1852   Dorset
Bagbere
Bellchalwell
Child Okeford
Fifehead-Neville
Hammoon
Haselbury-Bryan
Hinton St Mary
Ibberton   Manston
Newton
Okeford-Fitzpaine
Shillingstone or Shilling-Okeford
Stoke-Wake
Sturminster-Newton-Castle
Woolland

http://content.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?htx=List&dbid=8860&offerid=0%3a7858%3a0

I think these parishes are not far from Milton Abbas

Thank you for all your help! Please can you send me the 1861 details for John Land and his son Frederick. I wonder where james is- but as you say, there are many gaps missing for 1851.
