Ancestry 14 day free trial
« on: Tuesday 22 May 07 11:01 BST (UK) »
Just wondering if anyone has taken advantage of the Ancestry 14 day free trial, and consequently registered under another name to get another free trial?

Has anyone done this using the same computer and a credit card with the same number but with a different name.

I think I would feel a bit dishonest doing this but it is something that has crossed my mind. In theory it's quite reasonable if a couple are both into genealogy.

Any opinions welcome. Thanks.

Ruskie

If you use the same e-mail address it wont let you do it . ...  I think there's also something about the same credit card as well, but don't hold me to that.

Thanks Barbara, I thought that might be the case re the credit card. No I'd get my partner to register and use his email address - but our credit cards have the same numbers ...
It could easily be legitimate - two members of the same family joining at different times.
Might try it out one day  ;)

I had a 30 day free trial which came with FTM and you have to give your credit card no for that and later had another through lost cousins in hubby's name and email address and our cards are the same no.

It is a bit dishonest I suppose but I was doing his tree too. :)

That's a good way of looking at it Christine. I'm doing my partner's tree too. It could just have easily been him researching his own family.
