Cheshire Cemeteries
« on: Wednesday 23 May 07 12:59 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the burial of a HARRIET FINNEY.
She is listed in the September quarter of 1883.
She was living at 393 High Street, Over, Cheshire, Northwich in the 1881 census.
Does anyone know the nearest cemetery to this address.

Look forward to any replies.

R Billo.

Hello John,

Thank you for your time, but regret these are not the Harriet's.
I forgot to say that HARRIET died in the September quarter of 1883 and her husband was a WILLIAM FINNEY, don't know why I didn't mention that.

I assume she was still at the address above, and I was just wondering what cemetery was close to that address.

Is there such a place as Over, and what district did it come under?

Thanks again for replying.

Hope the extra info may help.

Regards.

Roy.

Hi Roy,
Yes there is a place called Over, its more Winsford, about 10 mile or so from Northwich.
Had a look at the 1871 census, as she was a liverpool girl maybe she went back to a family grave, if i was looking at the right Harriet , was she a Billingsley and married to a Rogers before becoming a Finney.

Hello John,

Thanks for the reply,

Never knew there was a place called Over, learn something new every day eh.

I don't think she came back to Liverpool, don't think they were rich enough.

You're right she was a Billingsley, married a Rogers and he died, and she remarried a Finney. How did you know that?.

Have her in the 1881 census, on BMD she has died by 1883.

Would like to know where she is buried, just to fill in the gaps.

Regards.

Roy.

Hi Roy,
First off i think Over was between Moulton and Winsford, not sure of cemetaries for winsford though.
Now as to how i found her previous marriage, just luck, had a look at the 1881 census saw she was born liverpool tried to find her on the 1871 census but she wasn't cheshire so tried lancashire there was a Harriet married to William with a two year old but three step children named Rogers so had a look at Lancsbmd around 1867 and there was a Harriet Billingsley and a Harriet Rogers both marrying a William Finney both had the same cert no.  http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/
Now Over, there is a St Chad and also St John the Evangelist, both church's have cemataries from there pictures.
