How Far

Not sure what thread to enter this
Can any of our New Zealand friends tell me how far it is in miles from Christchurch to Dunedin and could we drive down there in one day
We plan to go to New Zealand next year and would love to go back to Dunedin as my grandfather was born there and he has a baby brother buried there in the South Cemetery

It is about 220 miles between Christchurch and Dunedin. Easily done in four and a half to five hours. On more than one ocassion I have gone down and back in the same day. It is not a particularly strenuous route.

Hi Elizabeth, just a word of warning, the majority of the grave sites at the Southern Cemetery are in a state of disrepair and unless there is someone there to guide you it is hard to find the plot numbers, many of the stones are missing too. I searched last year for my gg grandparents and couldn't find.
I am heading to Dne tomorrow if you would like me to call in and look for you? It is a long days travel if there is nothing to find at the end.
