My grandparents and generations before were from sychtyn which is on the sropshire/welsh border. my great grandparents were evan and mary ann (nee jones).

just started to research this  prodger family , so if any one can help that would be great.

               My grandmother was a Prodger she was one of 13 children she was born in Alfriston Sussex in 1875. the Prodger tree in my family dates back to 1722,most of her family stayed in Sussex, have you any names and dates, I might be able to help in some way to get you started.

Hello, I also have an interest in the Prodger family line. I am looking for a John Prodger, b. Aug. 21, 1820. I do not know where except that on a Canadian census he declared he emigrated to Canada from England in 1842.

Family history is he was a member of the Welch Fusiliers (23rd foot). The 23rd were in Canada at various times. The reserve battalion arrived in 1842.

Any assistance or suggestions would be appreciated.

I can see 2 John PRODGERs aged about 20 on the 1841 census - both are soldiers.

John PRODGER aged 20 living in Chichester Barracks (private soldier Army) not born in county
John PRODGER aged 20 living at Carlisle Castle (private sodier 23rd Regiment) not born in county

Do you think the bottom one is yours?

Wow, yes. The age and reference to the 23rd make it likely. Not many Prodgers. This is the first reference I have been able to find for him before he came to Canada. Any more details? Where is Carlisle Castle?
