Albert Wood Canadian Soldiers W.W.1
« on: Saturday 26 May 07 20:22 BST (UK) »
Looking for (George) Albert Wood on Ancestry "Canadian Soldiers of W.W.1., 1914 - 1918"

I am not a subscriber to Ancestry but found this reference and would like to know more about him:

Albert Wood born Kent, relative George Wood

I understand the image would give me attestation papers, name of enlistee, address, birthplace, birth date, age, name, next of kin., etc.

The Albert Wood I am seeking emigrated to Canada probably around the age of ten years in 1900/1901

Help would be most appreciated.

Ceeoh

Hello Nancy - many thanks for your offer.

George Albert Wood was born 1st November 1890, Baptised Lydd in Kent.
Father George Albert Wood (Quarter Master Sergeant 30th F.B.R.A)
Mother Emma Carr
He is known to have gone to Canada but no date known
The last picture of him was taken circa early 1901 (pre census) with his five siblings.
He is not with the family 1901 census
He has not been found on the 1901 census
The family always referred to him as Albert.

Family legend says he went to Canada as a child but not known with whom
He is known to have had a family in Canada as his daughter visited the English family during W.W.2.  Name unknown

The entry I saw on ancestry "Canadian Soldiers of W.W.1." refers to an Albert Wood, relative George Wood.  The name George occurs many times in the Wood family

Any help to find this "lost" child would be most appreciated

Many thanks

Margaret (Ceeoh)
