Looking for birth 1902
« on: Saturday 26 May 07 21:29 BST (UK) »
Elizabeth Rogers  was born September 1902 and was the daughter of Robert Rogers and Elizabeth Robinson

Her parents were on the 1901 census for South Shields i  but then I believe moved to Scotland  and a lot of the children were born in Hamilton.  I have been unable to trace on Scotlands People or in England when I applied for certificate in 1902 they were not my connection.

On Family search site her marriage is listed and her birth date but no place of birth

Can anyone help

Thanks

Hi Isobel

Have you discounted the English birth entries showing on FreeBMD. For example:

Births Sep 1901
Rogers    Elizabeth   S.Shields    10a   847

Births Dec 1901
ROGERS    Elizabeth    S. Shields    10a   839

On Scotlands People, there are only two possible birth entries between 1901-4 in Hamilton:

1901   RODGER   ELIZABETH CROSS   F   HAMILTON   /LANARK   647/00 0388

1902   ROGERS   KATHLEEN ELIZAB   F   HAMILTON   /LANARK   647/00 1150

Was either of these the one you have already discounted?

Regards.

Monica  :)

With regards to the Scotland People neither of these Hamilton ones came up for me

How did you manage it

Hi Isobel

As suggested by djcrtoye, always good to search using wildcards. I searched for El* Ro*g*r* and ticked the box under the first name section to pick up on any other first names.

There were more births in 1905 and 6 but I didn't include them on my post given that Elizabeth married in 1923 and I've assumed you have been able to verify her age from her marriage cert to around 1902.

Fingers crossed you find her details.

Regards.

Isobel

That a pity. There are too many births showing in Scotland in those years of Elizabeths for you to go searching (20 in Lanarkshire alone). I had hoped you would be able to pinpoint her birth to Hamilton from the info you had for the family.

The release of the 1911 census seems soooo far away still....

Regards.
