PRICE-1851 census lookup please

Hi,
Looking for John and Eliza (Elizabeth Gertude) PRICE on the 1851 census for Merthyr Tydfil. They married in April that year so not sure when census was taken.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello  Do you have rough birthyears & a maiden name for Eliza/beth Gertrude? There are many matches to the name John Price.

The Census was taken on 31st March 1851, so if they married in April they were in all probability not enumerated under the same address.

John Price born abt 1827 Montgomeryshire and Eliza Price (maiden name Rudge) born 1830 Glamorganshire. Married 12/4/1851 Merthyr Tydfil. I don't know John's parents names but Eliza's were William Rudge and Margaret Roberts.

 As you said a little disappointing but I'm not surprised. At least it's helping to build the Price line slowly but surely.  I will have to get the marriage cert. for John & Eliza Price. Can you advise the best way to obtain this from Merthyr tydfil? I live in Australia.

Powys fhs census returns.
Cannot see Eliza in the county.

The registers for Merthyr are divided between 2 offices :

Merthyr Tydfil Ground Floor, Castle House, Glebeland Street, Merthyr Tydfil, CF47 8AT.
Tel: 01685 723318

Pontypridd Courthouse Street, Pontypridd, CF37 1JS.
Tel: 01443 486869. Fax: 01443 406587.

I am not sure if they have an email address.
The main site I would usually direct you too has a broken link for Merthyr but if you need this link: http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

If you are not sure where to order the certificate and as you are living outside the UK you can order via this site: http://www.familyrecords.gov.uk/partners/gro.htm
I have been told in local records offices that you need the reference when ordering with Southport.

Hi Rhys,

Yes that does look like you've found the family for me. According to the IGI, William & Margaret Rudge were married 7/7/1824 Llangattock, Brecon and there is a daughter Hannah mentioned. Hannah's b.d. is 10/11/1836 which doesn't match with the 1851 census listing her as 7y.o. The IGI could be wrong of course.
As for the birth place of Eliza, I am reading from her son's b.c. (Richard Henry Price- my g.g'father) which states mothers age in 1870 was 42y.o. and place of birth Glamorgan. Her D.C states born Merthyr Tydfil.
John & Eliza's first born was a son William John James Price born 1852 South Wales. All other children born in Australia.
