Hi,

I looked at the Filey PRs at the East Yorkshire Records office today.

I found Althea's baptism okay -

Feb 23 1811  Althea d/o John & Elizabeth Fokinther

I'd almost given up on Joseph but I did another sweep just looking for the baptisms of any Josephs at that time, and came up with what I think must be him -

May 24 1810  Joseph s/o John & Elizabeth Fokey

I checked 1800-17 but couldn't find any other likely siblings.

Heaven knows what the correct version of the surname is supposed to be!!

Hope this helps,

Jill
HELP!!!

 BATHSHEBA BOOTHROYD bn c. 1802 W. Yorks.

Baptism nowhere to be found. Possibly in a nonconformist church near ALMONDBURY or HUDDERSFIELD.

hello jill,i have lost count how many spellings there is of that name forkinther /folkinther/falkington and a few more besides,my dads cousins is fokinther so i think fokey may well be the right one,on the church register for his marriage to jane (wait for it)smith it was falkington and different spellings since then.thanks very much for the info it's great.we know they came from overseas but there is a difference of opinion in the family either holland or belgium and someone suggested dutch-africaan maybe one day we will find out thanks once again best wishes josie
