Gladys,

some good news and some bad news

1861
RG9/3847 folio 73 page 27
Holywell
Double Row
Thomas Dawson, Head, Mar, 56, Coal Miner, Durham Portabella
Elizabeth Dawson, Wife, Mar, 52, Durham Felling
Edward Dawson, son, Unm,17, Coal Miner, Northumberland Eardson Sq.
Dorothy Lashlie?, Step Daur, Unm, 17, Servant Home, Northumberland Earsdon Sq.
Robert Lashlie, Step Son, Unm, 14, Putter, Northumberland Earsdon Sq

Marriage:
Thomas Dawson and Elizabeth Laslie 1855 Dec ¼ Newcastle T 10b 65

No Mary, no Dorothy Dawson or Catherine but the other Edward and Thomas are the ones you want.

I forget--do you have Thomas Dawson's baptism in Chester le Street?

Thomas Dawson born 24 Oct 1805 baptised 4 May 1806 4th son of John Dawson of Twizel, Husbandman, native of Hamsterley by his wife Mary Dixon, native of Brancepeth.  (I think it says they were living in Twizell which is confusing as that falls under Tanfield parish.)

Co. Durham:  Hall, Snowdon, Makepeace, Barnfather, Barrass, Gray/Grey, Wilson, Carr, Cole, Richardson, Greener, Lamb
Northumberland:  Grey/Gray, Richardson, Barnfather, Heron, Redpath

Hiya Janis, Thomas`s wife Mary (Lowther )  must have died with marrying an Elizabeth.  This is what i got from a contact,  baptism taken from IGIs Thomas Dowson bap at Chester Le St 1806 son of William Dowson and Susannah Humble then there is this one you have sent so i am confused at who to take.  I wonder if John Dawson and Mary  Dixon will be in the 1841 census but aal have to find their baptisms first  ???  Any way my line is Isabell Dawson married Elsdon Heron and amm pleased wth the baptisms also this 1861 census and other.  Your a star.  Thanks a lot. Regards Gladys.

Gladys,

I think your Thomas Dowson rather than the Thomas Dawson is correct given the Portobello birth place

Thomas Dowson born 24 Oct 1806 baptised 8 March 1807 1st son of William Dowson of Portobello, native of Houghton le Spring by his wife Susanna Humble native of Gateshead

Hiya Janis, i found the marriage for William Dowson and Susanna Humble at last 9 Nov 1805 at St Andrews Parish Church Newcastle on Tyne as i could not find it when i put that last request in.  There is another person looking for this marriage but i forgot who it was.
Gladys :)
