Help with American records, please

One of the ancestors about whom I'm trying to find out more is Alexander (Alec) Muirhead Emmott, born Camberwell 1911 and died Surrey 1988. I'm using Family Tree Maker 2005 which has a facility to search the internet and this has brought up dozens of records of this person from places all over the USA but only gives the headline or subject. I don't have the membership which would allow me to check up on these "records" nearly all of which give the names of newspapers. Would somebody who does have access to USA info please take a look and tell me if there is anything, such as a marriage, worthy of further investigation.

HI,

My experience of software related search mechanisms is that it is totally USA orientated.  Unless you have grounds for knowing your relative was in the States I think it is more likely that the software is directing you to a person in the States who is not related to you, but happens to have similar details.

I hope someone can look up the details for you and prove it is your guy or not.
