HANCOX discussion

Moderator comment: topic split from Genes Reunited GRRRR thread

I too dropped out Chris as not worth it, but it was where I first made contact with you. Have you got back further than John Hancox 1640 yet? I keep trying.

Hi again Paul, I *think* you're one of the Hancoxes of Cubbngton descended from Thomas b1833. So we are related via his wife Martha Draper - her sister Ann was my great great grandmother. But I haven't followed him back because he's not my relative (see above in this thread as to why I don't do this) - he was born Priors Hardwick and I don't think he's related to the Hancoxes of Castle Green, Kenilworth who are my maternal grandmother's line - unless you know different?

All best, Chris

Hi Paul, this is going to get moved to Warwickshire Boards soon, but were they from Kenilworth area? I'm descended from Joseph Hancox b c1820 and his wife Hannah Lynes or Lines - I'm not sure where they were born (except "in county") but they married at, and all their children were born, Kenilworth. I believe his parents were James Hancox and Sarah Woodfield, but I'm not sure. Chris

No, Paul, that's not me, sorry. I have about 4 Pauls with trees open to me but only one had Hancoxes - the Cubbington ones. I saw the Tysoe ones on the IGI. I don't think they relate to the Kenilworth ones - can they be connected to Priors Hardwick? It's a patrionymic so it could arise in several places at once. Chris

Excuse me for hi-jacking this thread!

Still Hancox and still Warwickshire - but if anyone has an interest in Hancox in Bretford, Shilton, Pailton, Monks Kirby, Brockhurst or Newnham Paddox - and later in Coventry, I'd be very pleased to hear from them.

Thanks,
