1841 census lookup Sarah Golding
« on: Saturday 16 June 07 13:04 BST (UK) »
Sarah Golding nee Ellis was born 6/1/1805 Lower Halstrow to parents John and Elizabeth Ellis.
She married Edmund Golding  8/11/1828 at Gillingham, Kent. They had a daughter Ann Tuff Golding 5/4/1829 at Newington-next-Sittingbourne.

This is her in 1851
1851 HO107 1627 F351 p20 Newington
Ann Golding wid Hd farmer of 140 acres emp 9? lab b Newington
Hezekiah Spittle son in law wid 60 Farm bailiff b Borden
Sarah Golding son's widow 45 serv b Halstow
Ann Golding single visitor 22 serv b Newington

As you can see she is a widow in 1851.
Can anyone find her in 1841. She may or not be a widow by then. She was not with her mother in law Ann Golding. If Edmund was still alive she might be with him.
Many thanks
Shauna

Hi Patrish,
Thanks for your help.
This is definately her family but she is not with them. Ann Golding 72 is her mother in law. Hezekiah Spittle is her sister in law's widow. Ann, William and Edmund although the ages arnt right are I think her kids.
Sarah Golding may be somewhere else maybe Bobbing. Golding is sometimes spelt Goulding and Golden.

If she cant be found in 1841 do you think you could look for her in 1861 as this might hold some clues.

Thanks again
Shauna

Ooh, the plot thickens. Thanks Ricky and Patrish for your help. The Sarah living in Upchurch is the correct one. It is very useful.  I wonder whose children are whose though? You are right Edmund probably had already died. He did have a brother Thomas so Sarah must have been living with them. Ann Golding must have kept all the longevity genes as she has so many widowed children and in laws. It is all very confusing, but you have given me a lot more clues to follow. I am very grateful
Cheers from Australia
Shauna
PS Can I be greedy and ask for the 1871 census as well. Again it might have clues to help me put the whole picture together.

Hi again Shauna,

The Jane aged 13 months in 41 must be the Grandaughter Jane Ann aged 21 in 1861 and Thomas aged 4 in 41 the grandson aged 24 in 1861  problem is who are their parents  ???
