Brickwall - McGowan
« on: Monday 18 June 07 16:05 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have an Edward McGowan in their tree?

All I know is that when his daughter Bridget McGowan married John Bonner in 1912 in Londonderry, Edward was already deceased. His profession was listed as seaman.

Bridget's address at the time of her marriage was Creggan Road, Templemore.

I'm really really stuck.

Any idea when Bridget McGowan was born?
The IGI lists a Bridget McGowan born 20 May 1874 in Derry to Edward & Mary (Brannon). They also had William 2 Mar.1870 Derry & Eliza 3 Jan.1868 Co.Derry.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thank you. I saw that record but I think that Bridget is too old.

Bridget had her last child in 1927 and if she was born in 1874 that would make her 53 years old giving birth?

Her husband John was born about 1884 so I figure that's about when she would be born.

I considered that it might have been another Bridget that died as a child...??? and she was born later and also named Bridget. It happened.

It's interesting that in the IGI site there are two records for Bridget - both 1874. I wonder if one was a typo. Unfortunaetly I don't know her mother's maiden name which is a real pain:)

I guess I'm going to have to see if I can find them on a census some how.

Thanks for the info.

Regards,

Mary Ann

Hi Mossy,

That Bridget Mary McGowan looks promising. I think her mother may have been a Mary.

Something to investigate. A little "Sheer Luck" Holmes required here:)

Thank you aghadowey and mossy. You guys are great.
