Surname ANDRIEU 'X'
« on: Thursday 21 June 07 17:18 BST (UK) »
I am researching the above surname, which is spelt as ANDRIEU 'X'. I have found a marriage on Free BMD of John ANDRIEU to Lucy FARMER at Lambeth Sept Qtr 1857.  Could anyone advise me where to apply for the certificate, please?

I am trying to find them on the 1861 Census.  They are in Lambeth, London in the 1871 - both aged 33,  with children Lucy 12 bn Newington, Angelina 10 Bn Walworth, John S A 8 bn Walworth Eliza 2 bn Walworth.

I found a couple named John and Lucy in Liskeard, Cornwall on Free BMD, 1861, but they seem to have only one child called John J T., aged 1 born Cornwall and so is Lucy.  John is born Middlesex!!  Can anyone one help?

Lambeth look most likely. Angelina Louise was registered mar qtr 1860,
John Sebastien Antonio Andricux (sic) Mar 1863. Lambeth again.

I doubt Lambeth would supply the certificate, you would need the name of the church, even then London register Offices are too busy to supply certificates for family history.

You can order the Marriage Certificate on line here.

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

You will need the volume and page numbers as well at the year, district and quarter that you quoted, it will cost you seven pounds.

In 1861 [Lucy] Rosina ANDRIEUX (as Rosina), 3 and sister Angelina, 1, are with grandparents Thomas and Hannah FARMER in Camberwell according to Ancestry's index, though unfortunately it seems to link to the wrong page.

The ref. given is RG9/380 folio 23 p44.

Thank you very much, Anna, Pauline and Jebber for your help.  I did once write to the Royal Borough of Kensington Record Office for a birth certificate, and was referred elsewhere!!

I will get the Certificate from the GRO as advised.  I still have not discovered where the parents of these children are unless it is the one I found in Cornwall.

The family history, is that the ANDRIOUX family were wine importers from France, but I haven't found one in the census born there yet anyway.

Thank you again.

Hi,

If I'm looking at the right people in Cornwall in 1861, Lucy A and John T.J with John born Middlesex, are born in Devon and I can see them in 1871 still in Liskeard but Lucy A is now Louisa A  :P

I think this may be Lucy in 1861, transcribed as ANDRICUX,

1861  RG9/360  f.77  p.17  Lambeth
//
1 Field Cottages
Park Road

Lucy ANDRIEUX    Mar  Daur  ???     22    NK    Surrey Camberwell
Lucy    "  "          Unm  Visitor      18    NK        "  "        "  "
//

 ??? the image does say Daur but the enumerators marks show that the two Lucys are living in a separate houusehold and seperate address to the household above of William BLOWERS.

Could Lucy aged 18 be John's sister?

So where is John  ::)

Regards
Daisy
