1841 lookup please Plymouth area
« on: Friday 22 June 07 15:44 BST (UK) »
Dear Rootschatters,
I have a problem. I need to find any families called Melhuish, (varients Mellish Melluish) on the 1841 census for Plymouth/East Stonehouse areas. I have had terrible problems with finding anything to do with my great great great Grand mother Mary Melhuish who was born around 1800. I was hoping if other families were around with that name it may give me some sort of clue to where she came from (I haven't been able to find a baptism etc).
Anyway thanks for your assistance,
Kind Regards

Trouble is, the 1841 doesn't give birthplaces, only whether or not born in the county, so not sure how this will help.

Anyway, three more from the area:

HO107/270/5 fol.21 p.37
Bedford Street, St. Andrew, Plymouth
James Melhuish 30 Eg. Lab Y (b. in county)

HO107/269/7 fp;/6 p/6
Drake St, St. Andrew, Plymouth
Samuel Melluish 40 Sawyer  Y

HO107/276/10 fol.7 p.7
Royal Marine Barracks, East Stonehouse
William Melluish 20 Private Royal Marines  N

Thanks, maybe one of the men is her brother- although this family is so difficult to find!! I was hoping there may be an older couple around, possibly parents.
Thanks again
