Death Records June Qtr 1841 - Sarah Watts
« on: Sunday 24 June 07 08:53 BST (UK) »
I'm inquiring into a Death Certificate for Sarah Watts nee Nugent, 70 old. A monument to her in the  Ripple Church, Kent, indicates she died at Middle Deal, 1st April 1841.

A search of both Freebmds and Ancestry could not locate her, or any other Sarah Watts dying anyhwere in the June Qtr 1841, but did so for the Sept Qtr 1841 registered at Medway, Kent.

I was wondering, if dying in Middle Deal on the first day of the June Qrt, would it be possible the death was registered in Sept Qrt at Medway? Are these towns close enough to do so. As there were plenty of "Sarah Watts" in all other quarters, could the June Qtr be lost or not completed?

Regards

Thanks Barbara.

That's looking a bit closer to Deal. May apply for that Certificate first, if no other replies received.

Eastry was the registration district for Deal. There were about 4 other Sarah Watts for that quarter but not for that area, I can list them all if you wish  :)

If you don't mind Barbara, that would be appreciated if not too difficult. Although you say Eastry was the registration district for Deal (which looks promising!), the other 4 won't go "astray" if its not the one.

Just wondering. Do you have the BMD's at hand, as you indicated Freebmds are not complete?

Hi Les

Watts:
Sarah            E London  II/137
  "                  Bishops Stortford VI 343
"                  Midhurst VII 280(? number not clear)
Sarah Ann     Wallingford VII 165

you can view the images yourself on www.freebmd.org.uk click on 'view images' - takes a while to plough through the pages!

Hi Barbara

Thanks for those extra Sarah Watts' references. I'll use them if I don't do any good with with the Eastry reference.

Hi Les

When you're  checking FreeBDM - you can check what is available for each quarter via their coverage charts - http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/progress.shtml

If this indicates that your time of interest is not 100%, the full indexes are given at ancestry

http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx  -  if you haven't used it before the search index only gives the first and last person on each page, you then have to view the page & manually search for your name. Thus the June Qtr of 1841 will provide the 5 Sarah's as given by Barbara (all somewhat difficult to read).
