Hi,

It would help your search if you could tell us the areas and dates you are researching . Christian names will help identify the correct family also. I have some Cambridgeshire data but do need more to go on.

Kind Regards, Frances

Hi Norfolkgal,

My g-grandmother came from Upwell and I was told she came from Cambridgeshire.

But although in two censuses it says Cambridge, on her birth certificate it says Norfolk

So here is a tip (in case you don't know this already):

Wisbech, Upwell and various places around the Isle of Ely were sometimes in Norfolk and sometimes in Cambridgeshire and - I've even heard rumours - sometimes in Lincolnshire !

So although I was originally searching "Cambridge", I now always look in these two sites for Norfolk aswell:

The Norfolk Transcription Archives:  http://www.genealogy.doun.org/transcriptions/index.php
and
Wisbech and The Fenlands: http://contueor.com/wisbech/

Hope these sites help,

Bob

There's a few Rust family members in Isleham, on the Cambs/Suffolk border, going back a hundred years or so. Perhaps they were overspill from the Isle of Ely area? One of my neighbours was a Rust before she married. If you have any strays who 'disappear', give me a shout and I'll check to see if they ended up here. After all, the Isleham Rusts just didn't materialise from nowhere.

hi,
ive already sent this message to your inbox, but in case you dont get it, here it is again on here! :)

if your looking for info on the thompson family in littleport/welney area, best bet is to try this link: http://albert-browne.me.uk/genealogy/index.php

that web site was set up by some guy called albert browne and he has a lot of thompsons in his family, like me! my great grandmothers was augusta thompson and her family can be traced back to isaac thompson in welney, back in the mid-19th century.

dont know whether any of this is helpful or if theres any connection between us anywhere, but those are the thompsons i know of in littleport and welney!   ;D

take care
