stone mason ?

hi i have a 2xgreat grandfather who was born in pembrokeshire in 1817 .He is listed as a stonemason on the census. Is there any way of finding what sort of stonemason he was. ie buildings, church, ect.  Thanks for any help.

Hi there,

Very often you can follow clues from the Census to find out Occupations.

For example, my Great Grandfather was described as a 'StoneMason' on my Grandfather's Wedding Cert. However, from looking at Census Entries & Addresses, I was able to ascertain that he was actually a Slate Quarrier...& it was then down to guesswork to find the Quarry involved.

Where abouts in Pembrokeshire did he live?

hi he lived at pembrokeshire docks he died in 1862, but was a stone mason on all the census and on marrige lines and birth ect . Hes address was Lower Prospect Row.   Parish St Marys. thanks for any help

Pembroke Dock is a town in it's own right. And I know Prospect Place
