Family name Gillerlane
« on: Tuesday 26 June 07 20:01 BST (UK) »
Hi all I am interested inthe name Gillerlane,my mothers maiden name, in my searching from here to the USA to Australia all records point back to Leitrim. The name seems to have been lost to Ireland and I don't have any experience of searching Irish records. I would be gratefull for any advice on the subject.

Welcome to Rootshat. Any idea of names or dates?- which would make it easier for others to offer ideas on sources available for further research.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I have a Michael Gillerlane  and Bridget Byrne shown as born in Leitrim, whose son Michael was born
in Edinburgh24 Mar.1859. Michael and Bridget seem to be the start of things here in Edinburgh.
